I live in very close proximity to both Perry Elementary and Grover Cleveland Elementary. What determines what school my kids should go to or do I get to pick? Is there some kind of area map that determines this? I can’t seem to find any information online.
where does the neighborhood kids go?
of course when i was a kid i went to irving – kids one block east went to columbus 2 blocks south went to Perry so maybe your best bet is to either call the school district or call or stop at one of the schools and ask them which school you should register at.
We would like to send our child to a private elementary school in a couple of years. The tuition is 12K. We will probably have an income of 100K at that time. Can you deduct elementary school education from your taxes or are there any tax breaks for this type of thing?
Shoot. We’ll just have to apply to one of the magnet schools. 12k is tough with no tax breaks.
No, it’s your choice, and your dime.
After elementary school we never did anymore spelling tests which really bothers me. Still some people don’t even know how to spell big words. The teachers say they don’t have enough time and isn’t a big deal but they just decide we already know how to. What’s your opinion on this?
I have two children. One of them has been the spelling bee representative for her school for the last two years and has done very well. The other can’t spell "there" the same way twice in a four sentence paragraph using the word in each sentence. The older child has never had any difficulty spelling — she sees a word and it sticks in her brain. The younger child won’t even use the strategy of looking at his Dolch word list that is taped to the inside of his notebook.
The skills of the younger child have caused me a lot of worry and grief over the last four years. Outside of school he has been placed in a program to help with phonics and receives tutoring for his spelling lists every week. In school, he has gone to intervention programs. There has not been any significant improvement.
I have done a lot of reading and talked to specialists. Even though I do not necessarily agree with everything I’ve learned, I have learned that some people spell very well and some people never acquire the skill. When I was at one of my lowest points, I had an educator pull me aside, hand me some copies of studies done proving my previous statement, and giving me the advice to get my son through grade school and spelling tests. I was assured that as a result of the study skills he is learning that he will find a strategy to make it easier for him and spell check will help with the rest.
Spelling is a necessary skill for communication. However, I do believe that the use of modern technology enables many people to communicate much better than they would have done without the technology.
There was a similar question, but my question emphasize the case when the parents are on a working visa in the USA and the child will study in a US public elementary school. How much would the elementary school fees be in this situation?
Public schools in the US do not have any tuition fees. You may have a small (under $100) registation/book fee.
Which is more desirable? Also on average, how many hours per week do principals work? Lastly, can you become a principal if you start out as a school counselor or do only teachers become administrators? Thanks. I am looking at getting a masters in elementary school counseling and down the road I may get a 2nd masters in education administration.
not sure you have the academics, certain you don’t have the experience….
my high school principal had a doctorate, as did most of my high school teachers..
I am a Grade 8 student and I wanted to ask what is the difference between elementary school and high school., cause I am scared of bullies in high school… It sound scary, but… COuld anyone tell me the differences please? Put it in paragraph format would be preferred. And best of all write 3 paragraphs. But if you don’t want to, point form notes are also okay. THANK YOU A LOT!
Also, could you give me a suggestion of which high school I should go to? The choices are: St.Augustine, Brother Andre, Markville, Unionville, and St. Robert. Please help me choose one. THANK YOU AND THANK YOU AGAIN! I appreciate your help!
I am a small kid that skipped a grade, and people in Grade 8 and 9 looked much bigger than me…
well, there are several differences. You are the big fish right now, next year you will be the little guy, you will be new and have to learn whats what. It depends on how well your school is preparing you acedemically, my gf’s kid is going next year, and his 8th grade teachers are coddling him, which is doing him no favor. you will be expected to be a bit more mature, but also looked at as being less mature. I wouldnt worry about bullies really, its unlikely that many seniors will even know you are alive, and the sophomores arent really that much bigger than you.
We all have problems-kids, teenagers, and adults. What types of issues (social and not) do elementary school aged kids have to face?
Bullying and changing. I remember when I was in elementry school (I had just moved to a new school/house, and my parents were getting a divorce) the girls used to tease me because I was fat. Thats when I developed my first eating disorder. People thought I was weird. Changes for puberty start to happen close to 4-5th grade, which can be akward and confusing. For the younger kids, its mainly bullying and finding friends.
I’m needing a record that states i was attending school in the year 2000. Back then i was in the fifth grade. Can I possibly get a transcript if I go back to the school? Sadly I lost my elementary school diploma, and I need it to help my dad’s lawyer with his issues.
Can anyone help?
. Did you keep a copy of your report card by any chance, That might be proof enough. What usually happens is , your records follow you where ever you go. So say you moved to another district, the original district/school sends all of your records to the new district, so in your school file, you should have records of every school you attended. You might want to contact the last school district and tell them what you need, They should have records of all of your information,
I am a little "out of date" and would like to see what is super popular for elementary school kids. My daughter would like to enter the school talent show and using something that is really hip, but clean, would be helpful. Do you know of websites with ideas?
trying to find simple, clean answers. For those that feel it necessary to refer to any sexual content, should keep your answers to yourself and schedule another appointment with your psychiatrist. Sexual Preditors should not be allowed to answer questions.
Disneychannel.com. My daughters love the cheetah girls and also they like high school musical. Anything on the disney channel is pretty safe.
I have started and initiative to recycle paper at my child’s elementary school in order to prevent trees from being cut down. I would like my school to more widely involved with the community and i just don’t know where to start to do this. Someone please help!!!
Maybe start a composting system. It would fit well with your recycling initiative and is a good way to stress waste reduction as well as a pretty hands on way of learning basic biological processes. I didn’t compost when I was younger, but I’m friends with some folks that have done it all their lives and they say it taught them a lot when they were young. Also, it could be cool to do some gardening alongside the composting (as the two really go together).
