I am at college now studying the National Diploma Art and Design. I also study English Literature and English Language at home. I want to become an art teacher at secondary school level, and I was wondering what would be the best approach?
Any input would be helpful at this stage.

You could study an Art degree then do a PGCE after to qualify you as a teacher :o ) x

What do I need to take at University to be an English or Media Teacher at Secondary School?

Posted by admin on February 15th, 2010 and filed under secondary school | 3 Comments »

I want to be an English or a Media teacher at Secondary school but I don’t know what I need to do at University to do that. Can anyone help?

So long as you have an A level in English and/or Media Studies, you can do what you want at university. Sure, an English degree is the obvious decision, but you don’t have to; I have a friend who is a Religious Studies teacher, and he didn’t do that at uni, he did politics.

Once you’ve got a degree in whichever subject you choose, you either need to do a PGCE course, which normally lasts one year and gives you Qualified Teacher Status, or you can join the Graduate Teacher Programme, where you start teaching straight away and get training as you work.

Hope this helps :)

Do you know a secondary school in uk where boys have to wear short pants all year round ?

For my son! He is attending a prep school where boys have to wear shorts all year long and he’d like to do it in his future secondary school too.

no. but (i) i bet he’ll change his mind as he gets older and soon he’ll see them as ugly and uncool (ii) most schools say boys can wear shorts or pants, as long as it is in the school trousers colour.

How Do I Become Good Friends With The Popular girl at secondary school?

Posted by admin on February 6th, 2010 and filed under secondary school | 2 Comments »

I’ve become friends with this girl at secondary school, but recently her friends have started hating me . She doesn’t really like me and her friends started rumours that i’ve been stalking her . She used to like me and now i dont know what to do. I feel intimidated by her and self concious all the time whenever i’m around her . Please help. Thank You !

forget her, if she’s not standing up for you with her friends and is even making you feel bad around her ditch her.
try talking to other people in your class or start in a new club or something at school – worked for me :)
if you really want to try again with her, talk to her on your own and not with her friends around but she really doesn’t sound worth it xx

Is it possible for a Primary School teacher to apply for a position in a secondary school?

Posted by admin on February 4th, 2010 and filed under secondary school | 5 Comments »

I was just wondering if a primary school teacher wishing to teach a specific subject in secondary school would have to redo their PGCE or follow other training to get further qualifications.

While I’m at it, can a secondary school French teacher apply to be a primary school teacher?

You have to take the classes and be certified for what you want to teach in secondary school. Good luck to you!
