Can the portion of taxes I pay yearly for public schools be directed to a private school for my son?

I pay 12k/year in property taxes; 6k of that goes to public schools. My son goes to a private school because the public school in my area are drug and crime infested. Can the money I pay yearly to public schools, be given to his private school to offset his tuition?

No, but if you qualify you can get a credit for those taxes on your return. Contact the IRS and see if you are eligibale for a an education credit or property tax credit..

They should, but no. Our government is evil and prefers to confiscate private property for the uses they see fit.

Sorry, I asked that once. But the way obama is using our money, it won’t be long before we don’t even have public school/

    Nope.

Depending on where you live you can ask for a tax break because you send your son to private school.

Where I live we get a discount on taxes because our children are grown and no longer attend schools in the district but we still pay taxes that support the district.

No, that would defeat the entire purpose of public schools.
